Event Introduction
Chinese Enterprise Association of Northern California (CEA) has grown rapidly in recent years,
and currently has over 80 members representing various industries from China. We have members from
the telecom, IT, banking, ISP, venture capital, trading, and travel industries.
On October 26th, CEA will host its annual event, the ‘Silicon Valley China US Economic& Technology
Forum”. The goal of the Forum is to have representatives from both the Chinese and US governments,
economic and legal experts, as well as Chinese and US company representatives will come together to
discuss the present and future economy of US and China, cloud/ mobile technologies, investment planning
in the US, and investment opportunities in the biotech sector.

Chuck R. Reed, the 64th Mayor of San José
On November 7, 2006, Reed was elected the 64th Mayor of San José. He was sworn into office
the following January by his daughter, Air Force Lt. Colonel Kim Campbell. As Mayor, he has
been committed to improving the quality of life in the city, boosting the public’s trust in local
government, and eliminating the City’s structural budget deficit.
During his first term, he successfully implemented his Reed Reforms, a comprehensive set of
policies that requires greater disclosure from elected officials toughens restrictions on lobbyists
and increases the role of citizens in San José government. Reed also launched his Green
Vision for San José: an ambitious 10-point plan to invigorate the economy and improve the
environment over the next 15 years. The Green Vision was unanimously adopted by the City
Council and more than 4,000 clean tech jobs have since been created in San José.
Reed was re-elected in June 2010 with a landslide 77% of the vote – a strong message of
support for his commitment to honesty, fiscal responsibility, and open government. His top
priorities during his second term are to: restore police services after a decade of budget cuts,
bring new jobs to San José, and implement much-needed fiscal reforms. In 2012, he successfully
pushed for a comprehensive set of pension reforms (approved by nearly 70% of San Jose voters)
that will protect the long-term health of the City's retirement plans and generate the savings
necessary to begin restoring core services to the community.
